The New Program: Support at Home launched on 1 July 2025, replacing the former Home Care Packages program. These approx. 310,000 recipients are now subject to means-tested contribution assessments under the new Aged Care Act. The 1,003 registered SAH-only providers represent a new market of organisations navigating the transition.

Still Separate Until June 2027: CHSP remains a distinct program until 30 June 2027, when it is scheduled to merge into Support at Home. Metric National Total Source
Babies born per year 292,300 ABS 2024
PPL claims per year 180,000 Govt Est 2025

7. Disability & Carer Payments

Metric National Total Source
Disability Support Pension 841,275 DSS Dec 2025
Carer Payment 328,580 DSS Dec 2025

That is roughly 1 in every 4.5 adults in the country. This doesn't include Medicare, NDIS, or Veterans' Affairs—which would push the number even higher.
